Help on choosing baby names, any ideas?

Our first born child is due to appear on January 2009. The ultrasound images weren’t clear enough to determine if it is going to be a boy or a girl, so we have no other choice but to continue gathering both boys and girls names.

Because our family name is relatively long (Floersheim), we decided that we prefer choosing a short first name.

Also, we decided to refrain from giving the baby a contemporary trendy name (in order that they won’t grow up with a dozen of other kids in their class whom would have the same names).

Boys’ names we especially like: Ben, Alex, Jack, George

Girls’ names we especially like: Alice, Kate, Mia

I'll be happy to hear any suggestions you might have.

Help on choosing baby names, any ideas?
i like jack and mia..

jack floersheim and mia floersheim i think they flow well
Reply:Im not trying to be mean or anything but if you lived where I live then the chances are there would be quite a few Ben's Alex's, Jack's and Mia's.

Personally I think Alice and George are a little too old fashioned. Kate is nice and simple. So I would recommend either Kate or Mia for a girl. I suppose it depends whether you like older or modern.

For the boy's I would say Alex. I like Benjamin for a name instead of Ben but you said you're looking for a shorter name.
Reply:Well, first may I suggest actually using the longer name? Because he won't always be a Ben. It works for a little kid, but not necessarily an adult... So Benjamin instead of Ben and Alexander instead of Alex? Just a suggestion.

I love the name Jack! I like Jack Austin.

Joel Anthony. Lucas, Beau, Jude.

For a girl, I like Mia, Mila is also really pretty.

Also love the name Leah Juliet.

Chloe, Zoey, Cora, Claire.

good luck :)
Reply:I really love the boy name George idk why lol i like the nickname Georgie for when hes a lil man and when he grows older he can be george.

I like George Alexander Floersheim

I also love Jack, i thinks its beyond cute and very masculine. I like

Jack Steven Floersheim

For girls I think

Molly Victoria Floersheim is lovely

and

Lucy Jean Floersheim is beautiful

Good luck and congrats!
Reply:I love Jack but it's very common where I live. If it's not too common near you that would be my choice hands down.

Alex is cute but it does seem like more of a nickname for Alexander and I know you don't want a long name. Ben also seems like a nickname for Benjamin. George just does nothing for me.

For a girl I love both Mia and Kate. Alice is not my cup of tea but it's not horrible.

Congrats! Do you get another ultrasound or do you have to wait until you deliver?
Reply:I like Alex for a boy's name and Mia for a girl's. Also what about the name Darcy which is a girl's name. It means mysterious. It's really different and you won't meet alot of women with that name. Plus it's my name. Also I have a german last name that sounds weird so my parents picked a first and middle name that flows nicely with my last name.
Reply:I like Ben, Alex and Jack, but I feel that Ben and Alex are nicknames for Benjamin and Alexander. If you want to name your baby Ben or Alex you can. I've no problem with it.

I also like Kate but I prefer Katie.

Reply:I love Ben and Kate! Would it be Benjamin though? Although it is long, I think it would sound great! LOVE those names!
Reply:I like Alex for a boy, and Kate or Mia for a girl.
Reply:I think Mia Kate is adorable. Out of the boy's I like Jack.
Reply:I like Ben and Jack or Jackson

For a girl Kate and Mia are great

Reply:Jack or Kate would be my choices.
Reply:I love mia but may i suggest ava?

i think its really cute.

for a boy, i would not go with george.

maybe jake?

if you are really down to those 4, then i would pick alex, because i just love that name!!!

glad to help and good luck!
Reply:First of all, I would say that if you don't want a trendy name...jack should be off of your list.

I love Alex!

I also like Kate and Mia, but how is Mia pronounced? If you'll pronounce it Me-uh, I wouldn't worry about the spelling. If you want it pronounced My-uh, I would add an H to the end, or change the i to a y. Belive me, I'd rather have a common name that everyone pronounces right, than to have a name that is said wrong all the time.

Best wishes %26amp; God bless!
Reply:Good for you for staying away from the annoying trendy names!!!

Ben - Benjamin (nn Ben) is one of my most favorite boy names! LOVE IT!

Alex - I like Alexander, with Xander as a nickname. For some reason have never been really fond of Alex. It's really just a nickname and not good for a full name.

Jack - LOVE this name, too! It's also one of my favs! If you want to use it as a full name you can or it is a great nickname for James, Jonathan, and Jackson.

George - Classic! Not a name that I love, but it's so classic and would be cute for a little boy and then very strong for a grown man. I don't think many people will think this way though, probably say it's too old-fashion and like an old man..

Alice- Same as George, classic. I don't particularly like it, but Ali is a really cute nickname!

Kate - I like this name very much too! :) I don't like Katie though. VERY classic. Love it.

Mia - This is more trendy than the other two, but is also great.

Good choices!!! Love them all!
